Education & Assistance
Some days you may find us teaching a course with Door County Learning In Retirement, some days we are hosting educational workshops to local groups looking to learn more about their options, others we may be talking to retirees about the options available to them once their employer-sponsored group coverage terminates, or maybe we are meeting one-on-one with individuals trying to choose between multiple benefit options available to them. These educational opportunities can span several different topics - including, but not limited to: Medicaid, COBRA, Medicare, Social Security Retirement, etc. Email Melissa to request an educational opportunity and/or to make an individual appointment.
Health
There are times in life when we need health insurance for short periods of time or we need to get a new policy in force for ourselves and our family. Each fall there is an open enrollment period where individuals can enroll in coverage for the following year. Outside of this time, an individual will need to quality for a Special Enrollment Period (SEP) to enroll in coverage. Some examples are: Loss of employer-sponsored coverage, Turning 26, Loss of Medicaid, Marriage, Birth/Adoption of Dependent, Turning 65, etc. An individual typically has 60 days before the loss of their coverage and 60 days after their loss of coverage to use a SEP they are eligible for. A good plan is to take action as soon as you learn that your coverage is going to end or change so you give yourself ample time to consider all options. Additionally, most major medical plans do not include dental, vision, or hearing coverage so these are separate policies to consider in addition to a health insurance policy. Use the Request Quote button or email Melissa today to inquire about your options.
Group
Small businesses with 2-50 employees may find that offering a health insurance policy is a great way to retain employees. If a plan offering is not a good fit, we can look into the offering of a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) where the employer offers a set amount of money to their employees that allows them to pay for their health insurance premiums in the private market. Typically these offerings are referred to as an ICHRA or QSEHRA. We can discuss all options available to you and help you choose the one that fits your employee population best. Email Melissa today to get your small group quote started.
Additional
We can select a health insurance policy that best fits our needs and still be uncomfortable with the out-of-pocket rick. There are different policies available that work to offset this risk for you - some examples are: hospital indemnity plans, accident, first diagnosis cancer policies, and critical illness policies that help you with expenses due to a medical crisis, when/if it should arise. Email Melissa to see what supplemental policies are available to you.
