Additional
In addition to a major medical policy, there are some additional products an individual can purchase to help them cover the out-of-pocket risk that remains. There are different types of policies that can be purchased or added to current coverage at any time. Depending on the policy and company, some plans may require medical underwriting to be approved and others may have guaranteed issue. We want you to feel protected and these policies offer protection for the larger out-of-pocket costs your plan may have pertaining to higher cost services.
The most common types of plans are:
Hospital Indemnity
You choose the benefit and coverage amount you want, submit a claim when a covered service happens (example: hospital stay, ambulance, outpatient surgery), and receive payment directly to you to pay your bills as you see fit.
Accident
A policy that covers you when an accident arises. Based on the outline of the plan, you submit a claim for your accident and receive cash to pay for, or reimburse yourself, for the out-of-pocket expenses already paid.
Cancer
These policies are designed to pay a lump sum benefit to the insured at the point of an initial cancer diagnosis. You choose the lump sum amount and will receive payment should you be diagnosed while having active
coverage.
Critical Illness
These plans help offset costs when a major medical crisis occurs, typically heart attack, stroke, or major illness initiates a payment to the insured to help them cover the out-of-pocket costs their major medical plan can have.
